Do I need another anything?
I was contemplating a pair of fabulous earrings today. They had my name all over them. They were to diiiiie for....gotta have them..., I thought. In the excitement of my sistah girl buyer's rush, I proceeded to pull out my plastic. (the American way) OOPS..."Do I need them?"
Something inside was tearing me up.
I could hear my heart asking me or was that my budget screaming for relief? For sure it had to be my already overextended budget. Yep, it was my budget and too it was my heart. "How many fabulous pairs of earrings do you need?" I asked myself and more important what is the point? You see at some point....enough became more than enough and at that precise moment I had an epiphany. I would like to believe that it happened when I decided to stop all that frivolous spending and made the decision to SAVE .
That's right, saving for my retirement (mmmh...closer than I thought and where did the years go after all?), my children, a legacy for tomorrow, What is it that you want to leave behind, how quickly we forget..... (a friendly reminder...)
That time I chose to not buy another new pair of fabulous earrings. Instead I will wear one of the fabulous pairs (at least 50) between the closet, jewelry box or an every day favorite on the counter in my bathroom. I was growing. Too, I am saving $$$$$, getting stronger, better and wiser. That my friend is the "fabulous thing."
Today I am fabulous and I haven't bought a damn thing to show it. I just know it and that is alright by me. ![]()
Womanish Wisdom
If one wants to know where your heart is, let me look in your pocketbook. Where you put your money tells me everything one needs to know. How you spend your money speaks volumes. It tells me how you feel about yourself.
Do you spend too much? All those shoes, new bags, fine car? Or are you a saver? Most women are not prepared in the event of a major loss(death of a spouse, health crisis, weather disaster.) How have you protected yourself in the event of a crisis? What necessary steps are you prepared to take beginning today?
